4. I just lovva da piggies! "Snacks" was just one of mine. He had his own corner of the bedroom where he could run free, so to speak. As soon as my husband would get up in the morning, Snacks would literally chase him down the hallway whistling for breakfast goodies!
SnowLily is a fine looking little lady indeed!
Thanks for sharing her with us :)

6. This is so sweet! I love guinea pigs! I had one named Francine, but it just died from old age. It had just turned 7 before it died.

7. Thanks for all your comments about SnowLily. To Country CatFish...she isn't an albino. She is a pink eyed white. I did some research and there isn't a true albino guinea pig. There are some that are called "lethal whites" that usually die early. I have three others that I'll have to send in. They are darling as well. Thanks again.

9. She is very cute! I miss my piggies and am hoping to adopt from a shelter soon; I never imagined that there were over 1,000 guinea pigs in shelters! At one time I had 5 piggies - the first was Melanie, a pink-eyed cream with orange markings that I got from a friend in college. I then bought Mel's rust littermate Cassadie from a small pet shop. Much to my surprise a few month later Mel gave birth to 3 pups (2 girls, 1 boy) - apparently the rust Abbasynian male piggie of my friend's boyfriend had been given floor time with Mel. The pups were black with rust markings, very pretty! The male was an American Satin like his mom and aunt, the females were both White Crested Satins. The last of the five just died in June a week after her 7th birthday! These little social critters are truly wonderful.

10. To reiterate Mandi's post: Please by all means, if anyone reading this wants to get a guinea pig, try finding one in one of the shelters. I owned a house cleaning business for thirteen years (while working on a neuropsychology PhD) and you'd be surprised how many people get guinea pigs for their kids and one of two things happens: either the kids lose interest and the parents end up being the sole caretakers which isn't tolerated for long or someone in the household is allergic to them. (Our vet says as much as 30% of the population is allergic to guinea pigs) I took on 6 g. pigs this way in addition to the 2 I already had. At the time (in the early 90s), there were very few shelters that would take them and I was afraid they would be euthanized so I ended up with a pack of pigs.
Unfortunately, my husband is allergic to them so I am now "pigless" which was a major consideration when I married my husband! lol
(None of my pigs were ever given up. My husband just stayed out of the "pig room" until they all passed from old age.) I came here to admire the little cuties. Hug yours for me please?

1. It is always nice to see people who enjoy guinea
pigs as pets. We had two and we loved them so
much. They were a great addition to our family.
I would like to say, we purchased our two from
a chain store and they passed within three years.
One suffered from tumors and the other from a jaw disorder. It broke our hearts. Maybe a breeder or shelter would be a persons best place to find their new pet.
