Sometimes I wonder what inspires scientists to initiate research projects that seem to have little relevance to helping mankind or animals.
For instance, "Scientists create 'fearless' mouse," which I read online yesterday amazed me. It seems that a mouse in Japan has been genetically altered not to fear cats. And this is important because?
I sit here scratching my head, bewildered, as I consider the huge amount of money that has to have been spent on what seems to be a project that has no redeeming qualities. Could it really benefit mankind, or for that matter, cats and mice? I would bet my bottom dollar that that money could have been spent on something really vital.
I talked with my cats about this genetic experiment as they dined on their meal of turkey and vegetables. I had high hopes that they would have some insight on this. Their response was a blank stare and a quick return to their food dishes. Even they could not make head or tail out of this "exciting" news.
But I worry about these altered mice that might escape their laboratory. The cats in their vicinity will be overjoyed, though.

1. I believe it is the CAT that is genetically altered!
Any cat would chase after this little mouse OR any other moving little thing!! That's what all cats do.
Who has done the study that says mice are afraid of cats? Is it sort of like -- "elephants are afraid of mice"??
Duhhh! It's jist a scam to get money!!!!
