Many years ago, my good online buddy Kim donated time to a nearby shelter. A few of the resident animals were not tamed so her chosen task was to help socialize them to make them more adoptable.
One day Kim spied the shelter's resident rooster, Old Bisbee Red, being chased by a man with a pipe, wearing welding gloves. When Kim asked him why he doing that, he replied that he "was going to turn him into a fighting cock." Kim grabbed Bisbee and took him home immediately.
Fostered by her friend Bonnie, (above) who had a variety of critters, he was eventually donated to a nearby petting zoo where he is well fed, lovingly cared for and doted upon by lots of children
